It was a more humorous attempt at a boxing game while still providing a realistic experience by allowing the user to vary punching, stamina and speed.
The first 3D boxing games came out in 1992 with Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Boxing and in 1999 with Ready 2 Rumble. These games featured Ringside boxing gloves, Nike shoes and Everlast boxing rings which made the game a lot more realistic along with providing the game makers with a little advertising income.
Electronic Arts created one of the most popular boxing game series in history from 1998 through 2011. It started with Knockout Kings I in 1998, Knockout Kings II in 2000, Knockout Kings III in 2002, Fight Night in 2004 and Fight Night Champion in 2011. Electronic Arts set the standard for boxing games we see today.Although the retro games can still be fun and can provide a bit of nostalgia, there are so many other great boxing games on the market.
